Billy's Fashion Faux Pas

Billy Bumble Bee had been told repeatedly by everyone in the hive that leg warmers - especially orange (gasp!) ones were simply not acceptable.  But ever the non-conformist, Billy has continued to defy fashion etiquette and proudly display his shocking orange accessories.  Honestly, everyone in the garden was abuzz today.  There was much discussion of what is de riguer and what isn't (hint - avoid orange).  Finally, the others left in a huff and went to hang out on the goldenrod, leaving Billy all alone ...with his orange leg warmers.  The end.

Today's offering is an Eastern Bumble Bee worker.  He spent the night in the zinnia's last night, as they tend to do this time of year.  Sleeping on the job, one might say.  Thank you to JDO for hosting TinyTuesday.

The rescue caterpillar that I found on some very sad milkweed in the garden last week is an eating machine and is now in his final instar phase.  I expect he will attempt to make his chrysalis before the weekend.  Fingers crossed that all goes well.  Always a bit of uncertainty when I bring one in from the garden as I never know if it's been parasitized.  Fingers crossed.
