Village life (2)
This morning I got up at 5.30 and walked up the road from the village for an hour or so. By the time I came back there were quite a few people at work in the fields, preparing ground, weeding, picking. The man with the wheelbarrow here has a load of manure.
The orange tank is a water container - brought in through an aid programme after the eruption of Mount Merapi and associated earth tremors in 2010 destroyed the reservoir dam and the irrigation system on which the subsistence farmers here relied. The tanks are no real substitute, however.
I'll be sad to leave here - it's a very special place.
