Nelson Cherry Blossom Festival

In Japan the interweb tells me the cherry blossom represents the fragility and the beauty of life.  It is a reminder that life is overwhelmingly beautiful but that it is also tragically short.   When the trees are in bloom, people come in large groups with their families and friends to view the flowers and to enjoy festivals with food, drink, and music.  Nelson had it own festival today to celebrate the 43 year Sister City connection between Nelson and Miyazu.  The blossom trees were a magnet for photographers.  There were  a lot of children dressed in traditional dress and they performed two songs.  They attend Japanese school on Saturday mornings.  The youngest ones performed a dance which is going to feature at the 2020 Olympics.  They were giving it their all and it was only when I looked at the photos I see they are all out of time and one little one has got stage fright and stopped.   A perfect spring day for it.
