One Crowded Hour

bristly cottonhead...

...endemic to  south west of Western Australia and first described by  Robert Brown botanist on The Investigator under the command of Matthew Flinders in 1801 and the first ship to circumnavigate Australia.

Brown collected over 600 specimens of local plants (he must have been here in wildflower season!) and many still are known by the names he gave them, such as Prickly Moses, Blueberry Lily, Poverty Bush and Scarelt Runner... and this the Bristly Cottonhead.
What a poetic chap!
