Wise Men Still Seek Him

Today its the start of Epiphany and symbolically marks the visit of the Magi to the manger of Bethlehem as they sought the child born to be King.

Epiphany.....Its a Greek word meaning 'realisation' and in this context, the realisation of the wandering Magi that the Christ they sought really was the son of God. Churches often celebrate Epiphany as a season, extending from the last day of Christmas until Ash Wednesday which then begins the season of Lent.

So much of history invested in so few....just 3 wise stargazers.

Wise because they lived in expectation
Wise because they were knowledgeable about their subject
Wise because they acted on the information they were given
Wise because they stayed on track till they reached the end of their journey

They followed relentlessly, "o'er moor and mountain, field and fountain," the biggest and brightest star in the night sky....until it brought them to their final destination and they were humbled as they saw for themselves the promised Messiah....foretold by the prophets of old.

Wise because they returned to their own country by a different route so that Herod..who sought to destroy the child would not find Him.

I love this story.....

Who hasn't heard of the 3 wise men!!?

Traditionally they feature so much in the nativity tableaus and it wouldn't be the same without the odd camel or two that brought them to that scene.

But there's more than I can share about them....3 ordinary people....not royalty...just stargazers waiting in anticipation for something spectacular to happen in their lives.

It did...and they were changed by their experience of meeting Him.

Its Epiphany.....why not join the wise men in their search and have a life changing experience too?

Its also the end of the Christmas celebrations as we know them and all the decorations should be down before the night is through! Better get moving!

Happy Blipping Everyone
