Rose wasp gall.

Spotted this today on our site visit to an old railway line but I can take no credit as our ecologist was with us and he pointed it out to me. It's created by a gall wasp. Quite remarkable isn't it?

In the extra is the underside of a viaduct in the middle of nowhere. Sorry wall!
