Alternative Art Walk in Porty
This railway footbridge in Joppa was built in the 19th Century - it was modernised when the line was electrified and the steel ramps and span were put in. Its relative remoteness makes it a popular haunt of the artists armed with spray cans and heavy duty "Sharpies". Art will always divide opinion. All art could be described as a form of graffiti although the technical definition of graffiti is art expressed without permission and in public view. If Banksy had left his mark on this bridge there would be a clamour to buy the bridge! This artistic expression without permission is currently of no fiscal value. To remove it from the stonework, however, would prove to be surprisingly expensive.
