Abbots Bromley Horn Dance

It was pouring with rain when I woke up. Camping in the rain is never the most pleasant!

At lunchtime I went to the session which finished late afternoon when The Horn Dancers arrived and we joined the spectators to watch the dancers.  The Horn Dance has been danced in the village since 1226 with reindeer horns dating from that time. There's information about it here and a video of the dance here.   They do the dance in the village and surrounding farms and houses (around 10 miles) where they are given refreshments. 

I then went to pack up the tent and drove home deciding that I was too tired to go to the evening session then to have a long drive back. Another year I shall hopefully stay for the two nights.
