Lunch

Avocado and tomato on sourdough toast is my favourite lunch.

I should have blipped my baking as it was my turn to host the book group. My scones were light and delicious but the apple date and walnut cake was slightly singed and the tray bake icing didn’t stick. That’s what happens when you don’t bake often - you lose your touch.

Only Ros, Katy and Gill came. It was Katy’s choice which we all confessed we’d not finished. “At Swim-Two-Birds” by Flann O’Brien. I found it completely impenetrable and totally beyond me. As did the others. Katy had not read it before choosing it. Her ex-husband recommended it. We can assume he was getting one over on her.

We have booked to go away for 3 weeks in February.

The Westminster sago continues. Now Bercow has gone. And polls put the Tories ahead by far. What can people be thinking?
