Vardzia

We went to the amazing cave city of Vardiza today. It was created to hide a battalion of Georgian soldiers when the country was under threat from Turks in around 1200 AD. Some of it is still in use as it houses a monastery. An absolutely amazing place. A steep climb and lots of steps but well worth it.
