Human evolution
I booked a tour out to see the excavations and experimental archaeology site at Atapuerca. Along with the stunning displays in the museum of human evolution in town it took all day. This is where the earliest human remains in Western Europe have been found, up to 1.2 million years old. Incredible. However I nearly lost the will to live in the archaeology park where we variously watched and were invited to try our hand at flint knapping, shooting spears at silhouettes of bison and starting a fire (carefully).
Extra pic of most interesting campsite mode of transport - donkey power.
