Riding the Bore

The River Kent Bore, although very modest compared to the Severn Bore, nevertheless comes in from Morecambe Bay at a remarkable speed.

As you can see there is good sport to be had in riding the Bore, but given its force and the quicksands it creates, it is a hazardous enterprise.

Unfortunately I was about twenty seconds too late to get a shot with the rider on the white crest at the front of the bore. By the time I had unzipped the camera bag that had just gone under the viaduct.
