Snail haven

We recently cut down a huge pine tree in our garden because it was causing a lot of damage. Today I noticed that many snails have made their home in the stump. I didn't have the heart to remove them and crush them!! Not the same feeling I have when they are eating my plants!
I love the rough texture of the bark and the contrast of the smooth snail shells.
