The Unofficial End of Summer
Labor Day...2019. As you can see...we had a beautiful blue sky (and a very pleasant 70-ish (F) temperature.
During my working career, I didn't think much about Labor Day, other than it being a day off for me. But, after retiring...I think back on my working life. I didn't have many jobs, but they were all memorable. Here's my list:
1. Paper boy. Two years. (My dad and two sisters ended up delivering the route more than I did.)
2. Gardener (I lasted one day, and I lost a tool. Got fired for laying down on the job.)
3. Car-hop. 1 Summer season. (Carried out root beers, burgers, and hot dogs.)
4. Grocery carry-out boy. 1 Winter season. (Wanted to advance to the produce department, but never made it.)
5. Short order cook. Several years. (A great job working for good bosses and alongside friends.)
6. Letter carrier at the Post Office. 36 years and 21 days. (Again...a great job...for at least 25 of those years.)
7. A doctor driver. 13 months. (A doctor broke his leg, and couldn't drive.)
That's it. That's all of my jobs. Happy Labor Day to those in the U.S. To all of the rest of my Blip friends...Happy Monday.
