Cheeky Cow!
Kate and I had planned to go to the Wisborough Balloon Festival this morning - the balloons were due to fly at 6am, then 6pm tonight and the same tomorrow. However there was an announcement last night that both the evening flights were cancelled due to the wind, but that this morning's flight would be going ahead so we agreed to meet there at 5.30am. There was a telephone number that we could call this morning to make sure there were no last minute changes so Kate phoned at 3.45am and the message confirmed the balloons would be flying.
I left home at 4.30am and Kate and I both arrived at the same time but there were no balloons. Kate phoned the number again, and this time there was an announcement that the flight had been cancelled due to high winds at 500ft. So we were stood there at silly o'clock wondering what to do - Kate had arranged to visit friends and I was due to meet Tannie at 10am for a hot chocolate in Shoreham
There was lots of low lying mist so we decided to head somewhere where we could watch the sunrise and we ended up on a bit of an adventure - our first stop was Petworth, then Midhurst, onto Goodwood where we stopped to enjoy the view with the mist. The fields were fully of cows and a very amorous bull, but this cheeky cow kept sticking her tongue out, it was so funny! Our final port of call was Chichester. where we visited the Cathedral and the Bishop's Palace Gardens and all of this was before 9am!
Despite the disappointment of the balloons, we had a great morning's adventure, thank you Kate! We parted ways and after speaking to Tannie I arranged to meet her at 9.30am at the Sea Lane Cafe in Goring where I had smashed avocado with smoked salmon on sourdough bread, a hot chocolate and a pure orange - I was ready for it! It was lovely to see Tannie and she told me her exciting news that she's pregnant and is expecting a little girl on 2nd December.
Alan needed to nip into town as he's working in London next week and wanted to pick up his train ticket, although the queue was so long that he didn't bother in the end. Anyway, I headed back to Brighton at 10.45am and met Alan who'd been shopping and bought himself a new (second hand) air pistol - let him loose on his own and look what happens lol! I needed to get sun cream for our trip next week, and I also wanted to look at some sandals in the sale. I found a pair but couldn't decide on the colour, and the lady said if I bought them in both colours she'd reduce the total price by a further £10, so Alan kindly bought me one pair and I bought the other :-)
We then headed home and Alan's gone to do some target practice with his new pistol, I really need to start getting things ready for Singapore but after this morning's early start I'm just chilling out as we're meeting Anne and Simon for a Thai meal later. I think I'll sleep well tonight!
