Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly

Before heading into town to meet L and Hazel (my niece for lunch) I did some pottering in the garden ..... it was warm but bearable unlike Saturday and Sunday.

Deadheading, some cutting back and weeding was all I could manage in the time I had. Then it was a walk to the bus stop to await the arrival of a number 18. Glad I had my camera round my neck ..... resting on an old wooden railing was this Small Tortoisehell butterfly.

Choir starts tonight ..... don't know how we'll all manage in the heat but I'm sure we'll give it our best shot.
