The Bridge of Dye

I inherited a painting of the Bridge of Dye (see the first Extra, painted in 1949), and today I made an expedition to see what it looks like today. There is a new concrete bridge now taking the traffic, but the old bridge is in pretty good order. A typed notice stapled to a post says "Bridge of Dye was built in 1680 and is a Schedule A listed monument. It is one of the oldest bridges in the north east. It is an attractive small single-span bridge, with a four-ribbed arch of 70 ft (21.3 m) span."  I tried to make my main photo show the bridge from the same view as the painting, but I've added an Extra to show the side view.
