Himself's heart sank when he saw my purchases at Bantry market today - see extra too for the leopard print chairs!! Who could resist! Just kidding. The weather was grey and damply humid but it was all going on - Nick Laird , on holiday, was trying to persuade his little boy not to buy tat, Martin Hayes , taking a moment off from Masters of Tradition Festival, was strolling around the stall with his wife and Seamus Heaney appeared to be browsing through the second hand books, but that was a bit unlikely considering. 
And one day I'm going to do a series on Bantry market dogs - there was everything there from a wolfhound belonging to a dreadlocked chap who sells beautifully carved bowls to a the smallest chihuahua I've ever seen sporting a pink sparkly collar. 

And continuing the BVM theme, the Virgin Mary Bar has just opened in Dublin, teetotal naturally.
