Dam for a Damn Slope

My side yard is slightly sloped; I don't have a drip watering system, and that makes hand watering tedious since I have to be careful the water doesn't run off to the sidewalk - so I'm making dams for certain areas. I sewed up this strip of burlap stuffed with lavender and Rosemary clippings to form a tube to position where it'll slow down the flow of water. I used those clippings as they should last longer than grass clippings or the like.
