Limbering Up

I've spent this afternoon with my microscope and ID books practising looking at fungal spores and IDing some of yesterday's finds in readiness for the season ahead. As if to acknowledge this effort, a small group of Blackening Waxcaps (Hygrocybe conica) appeared on the lawn (we had none at all last year). One in extras. However, it has to be a Small Tortoiseshell for the blip - get them while you can!
