St Margaret’s Hope- Orkney holiday Day 20

The mornings are not as enticing as I have found them to be in yester years; they are rarely sunny at the moment but ever brooding as if to decide which way to continue, mist and rain, or bright and maybe sunny later. Because of this I have not wanted to go for my erstwhile ramble round the deserted lanes and streets before the good people of Stromness get up.
Instead, today, I hung about until it was time to get the bus down to St Margaret’s Hope to have coffee with Poppy in one of the few cafés in these isles that has not been the recipient of some of my filthy lucre.

Then it was back to her house for more coffee and a slice of lemon cake the like of which got 5*s from me. She was going riding this afternoon so I tripped the light fantastic home to Stromness via Kirkwall and the purchase of sock wool.
This is when the sun appeared and transformed the world into a riot of blues, greens and umbers while I sat in the garden wearing my sunglasses.

The sun is still shining and with a G&T in hand, I am watching the fishing boats returning to harbour.
My blip was taken at St Margaret’s Hope as I waited for the bus home, and the extra is of the flowers I met along the way.
