Monteviot Bridge (1999)
Day two of my wee run westwards along the St Cuthbert’s Way in a weekend. I started today in a dreich Kirk Yetholm after a good rest in the Border Hotel.
I arrived exhausted at the gates of Melrose Abbey 7hours later, 50+km for the day.
The blip is the delightfully springy suspension bridge over the River Teviot near Ancrum where I ate lunch in a fine cafe just off the route.
I caught the train from Tweedbank back to Edinburgh feeling a little self-conscious of my sweaty pong in the carriage.
