A Lido with a View - History in the Making

I had a ticket to be amongst one of the first groups of people to be allowed inside the run-down and fenced-off Lido at Grange-over-Sands, and see what an amazing place it is. It was built in 1932 to an Art Deco design, and is now the only seaside lido in the north of England. It's a grade 2 listed building, including the unique Art Deco style diving boards. It was closed in 1992, when it was apparently little used, even though the entry cost for an adult was 20p. Now the business plans are drawn up and it's very hopeful that it can be restored, with the 50m pool intact and provision for an upstairs cafe overlooking Morecambe Bay. History in the making!
