A Compass Tale

Touches of Philip Pullman's, "His Dark Materials" in this shot of Ginger the Horse, which I photographed through the glass compass panel that is nearby.

His Dark Materials is a fantastic trilogy of novels, comprising Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass. It follows the coming-of-age of two children, Lyra Belacqua and Will Parry, as they wander through a series of parallel universes against a backdrop of epic events.

Horses were intelligent animals that were mentioned in all three books. These animals were used for travel. Horses are sometimes stolen by Gyptian colonies. A horse was one if the symbols in the Alethiometer which meant: Europe, Journeys, and Fidelity.
