Gold Leaf
We decided to take our Christmas Tree down today and get the house tidied up for the New Year.
Whilst taking the decorations off the tree I decided to take this shot of the Gold Leaf I purchased on a trip to the USA in 2005. It brought back memories of my Roycroft lecture tour to Buffalo, NY when I visited the Darwin Martin House. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright between 1903-05 the Martin House is considered to be one of the best examples of the Prairie Style.
Like Mackintosh, FLW used nature to great effect within his designs. The Tree of Life pattern is found in several variations in the Martin House.
"Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you". - Frank Lloyd Wright
