Bayeux

More bad weather forecast today so we decided to get out and do a tour along the Normandie Landing beaches. I have to confess that I didn’t know a great deal about D-Day before today.

After a brief stop at a war memorial at Ste-Mère-Eglise we passed briefly through Grandchamp Maisy then to Omaha beach. Fascinating to see the place where some of the landings happened and find out a bit more at the museum. Then onto Arromanches where there were still some of the Mulberry Ports remaining in the sea. Fascinating and humbling.

We re-joined the Oxford Moores in Bayeux for pizza and a little meander around. A pleasant evening after a day of dodging showers.
