Edinburgh Renaissance Band

Friend A had booked us into lots of events at the Book Festival, Neil Oliver the archaeologist was really good. However sometimes the best events are those you go on the spur of the moment which you would never have booked in advance - like the Edinburgh Renaisssance Band playing music from 1192 to 1664 on reproduction instruments from the time.  They played and sang to shawms, cornetti, sackbuts, nakers, crumhorns, viols, fiddles, gemshorns, bells and racketts with great enthusiasm and much talent. It was very interesting to see these ancient instruments being kept alive although the age of the band made me worry the music may soon die out after all.
