Lukla - Phakding - Monjo 3199m

The alarm was a bit of a shock at 4am. We had 45 minutes to have a quick shower, eat and leave for the domestic airport. As always, the flight was slightly delayed but we boarded at 7.15am and landed in Lukla half an hour later. We climbed to Tara Lodge, where we met our porter and started our adventure!

We walked through the mountains to Phakding and it was really cold - we walked for a few hours the stopped for soup and tea mid-morning and then continued to Monju, arriving mid afternoon. We sat in the late afternoon sun, wrapped in down jackets and trousers, ate dinner and were tucked up in sleeping bags by 7pm. And snoozing minutes later!!!
