Fife last day
The inclement weather that the rest of the country has been having finally caught up with us. Wind, rain low mists. We had half a mind to head straight home (we’re not good at holidaying in the rain). But we popped back to our favourite Balgove Larder for breakfast. Yum.
As we passed through Dundee, we spotted Parking right beside the V&A, and it wasn’t actually raining then, so we stopped and went in. So glad we did, because it was fantastic inside - I'm not so keen on the outside... apologies for featuring one of those Oor Wullie eyesores, but I wanted the 'Discovery' in the background. We'll have to do that another day. A dry one.
When we came out, the inaugural Women's Tour of Scotland Bike Ride happened to be just starting and they whizzed by us with a huge entourage of support vehicles and ambulances. But I see in the news that it had to be called off due to surface water on roads. I do hope the next stage can be done, but the odds aren’t good.
Christine had tipped us off about an antiques centre on the way home, so we popped in there. What a humungous place! Full of dozens of antique dealers' shops, clothes, and a cafe.
We could hear the pelting rain on the tin roof, but when we eventually came out a couple of hours later (with a nice cashmere jumper for JR's upcoming birthday), the sun was shining and the temperature had shot up by 10 degrees. The Queensferry Bridge looked lovely in the sunshine. And we saw a cross section of one of those cables at the V&A - one of the strongest in the world.
Jordan took Archie out in the rain this morning, and he sent us this hilarious shot (Extra). Archie gave us his usual under-whelming welcome. I think he'd quite happily live with Rufus and his mum, so it's great to have them for our little holidays.
But it is nice to be home!
