Funeral For A Friend
The lovely daughter and her brother drove up from Wellington today to attend the service. Earlier this morning the family and us went to the local golf club rooms to set up for this afternoons memorial. In the extra is the forester looking at the table that held mometoes of his friends life in the outdoors. In contrast to that the local art teacher came and arranged his oil paintings on easels . The opening music was Bizet's The Pearl Fishers Duet. He liked to attend opera with his sister. A man of the land with diverse interests. The forester got through his speech with a clear voice. It was a very personal farewell and reflection back over his 65 years.
I took the blip while the forester was cleaning up an old piece of Totara timber that had been found on the farm several years ago. It will form the bench of a seat that will be placed overlooking the pond where his ashes will lie.
