An ordinary life....

By Damnonii

Well, we're all in the mood for a melody...

David was up and out just after 8am as he was playing golf with Kenny.

I thought I'd set my alarm for 8.30am but obviously I dreamt that because I awoke with a start, eyes wide and trying to get my bearings at 9.30am.  Took me a minute to realise that (apart from Lola) I had the house to myself.  No need to rush.

Downstairs in time to hear Pop Master quiz on Radio 2.  Bowl of cereal and a cuddle with Lola before R came to take her to the moor for her group walk with the other dogs.

While she was gone I made a new home card and a birthday card for a friend.  I had an idea for a new style of card so did some sketches and feel quite happy with them.  More experimentation with paint in the afternoon.  It's not quite what I envisaged but I will get there.

David returned at 2.30pm and we had a late lunch.

I went back to my paintbrush and David took the chance to play the piano very loudly.  Normally he's competing with Alan's tv or music.

Dinner was delayed due to our late lunch so we went for a swim and did some of my pool physio exercises.  Felt guilty as it's been ages since I've done any pool exercise.

I ended the session with 10 minutes floating on my back.  So relaxing.  And because we have the house to ourselves, instead of getting dressed again, I put on my Pjs and ate dinner on a tray on my knee watching tv.  Bliss.

Although we are so lucky to have such a fantastic support team working with Alan, having someone else in the house all the time really does mean we never fully chill.  I didn't realise till now, with Alan and his support workers away on holiday, how much of an impact it has on our ability to fully relax.  It's a bit like having a visitor staying all the time.  Need to give some thought as to how we can change this.

In other news, reports from the holiday are good.  Alan is having a great time. That makes me very happy :-))
