Night Night
Also posted for yesterday today.
Where do herons go to sleep at night? Well now I know. I heard a squawk and the flap of wings and saw him/her land on the branch way above me. After the rain earlier, the sky was still dark in the west and didn't look like lifting.
The bird looked around for a while and walked up and down the branch. I thought it would take off again because I've seen them feeding at dusk before and thought it might take advantage of the low light. But then ruffling its feathers, it tucked its head under a wing and looked as though it was there for the night.
I was as close as I could be and shooting with a 200mm lens, so had to crop in to get a decent image.
