Knaresborough
We’ve had an excellent day. Our friends took us on a tour of Knaresborough, which I hadn’t been to since I was a child. We followed a series of delightful paths from their house, until we were walking high up above the river and the town. Butterflies of all kinds everywhere.

Arriving in the town, we explored the castle ruins and I took this photo, the one seen everywhere, from the castle walls. We met there the Queen’s Keeper of Castle Ravens, who is based at the castle. She had three Ravens with her and told such entertaining stories about them - (see extras)

Then we made our way steeply down to the river and had lunch watching the people taking out rowing boats - some didn’t seem to be getting very far! The return journey was gentler, a delightful walk following the river and then paths back to the house.

The sun shone all day and there was a gentle breeze, so very pleasant indeed. I had lots of photos, but just for a change, and quite out of character, I decided on the iconic Knaresborough picture - that railway bridge and the River Nidd.
