Here's my husband dressed in his Chef whites in London as he takes part in his restaurant training, ahead of launching a new bar and restaurant in Manchester this Spring. He'll spend this week in some London branches seeing how their kitchens work and helping design menus. And he's in his element!! Even though he's a Manager (not a Chef), I often wonder if he would have preferred the kitchen side of his business.
Gemma was here today so that I could do some work. I was really productive, storming through my emails, invoices and accounts. My business is barely ticking over profit-wise since I've been on my 'part-time maternity' but with low overheads, at least it's not making a loss.
One of my New Year resolutions was to stop stressing about my business (until I really need to - i.e. when I can't pay myself a wage anymore) and to enjoy this arrangement. I'm not ready to put Audrey in nursery or be without her in the daytime yet. I just need to live a bit more frugally if I want it to continue.
Audrey was a cherub for Gemma today, eating all her food and sleeping for the magic two hours at lunch. She hasn't done this at all over Christmas and I suspect it is for a number of reasons. One - Gemma is very calm with her (I'm not sure I am) and two, there was very little noise in the house (it's been busy over Christmas with lots of different sounds).
Babies - never an exact science though so who knows the real reason! If only they could tell us eh?
