The Suitcase Returns
Started 2013 pushing a pram and carrying a travel cot through the moonlit streets of Chorlton. Past the revellers on Beech Rd and the flickering TV screens in windows of homes watching Jools Holland's Hootenanny. Chinese lanterns lit the sky as we bumped a sleeping baby over the cobbles. It felt quite beautiful actually, poetic even
Morning came far too quickly so we went back to bed on Audrey's first nap, raising again at her cries. Then it was a familiar family day - a late breakfast of eggs and soldiers, a pram walk through the nature reserve and home to some homemade soup and television whilst we played with Audrey.
Felt a bit morose as my husband's suitcase arrived downstairs (pictured) and he proceeded to iron and pack for his week away. He'll be back with us briefly on Sunday before leaving again on Monday for another week. I need to try and keep busy although there's no danger of that with my part-time job and Audrey!
It's been so nice to have him here sharing the workload over Christmas though. I think it might be tough to go back to doing it all on my own again. But needs must and I know millions of Mums out there do that every day anyway!
Cooking a nice meal tonight and watching a movie (my ideal night).
