Country Lanes
It’s long been a bone of contention . . . Large trucks using country roads. So much so that it became a topic for question at the parish meeting in Wellow, the Hampshire village bordering the New Forest Country Park.
The questioner was concerned about the number of trucks using a residential lane to reach fruit farms off the main road.
But it seems the authorities do not share the concern.
While the Parish Council acknowledges it is aware of this issue and has raised increased traffic flow and specifically use by large articulated vehicles on our country lanes as a concern and questioning the suitability of some of the village roads, the highways authority has deemed them safe and fit for use by the vehicles and both police and Hampshire Highways say this lane can support the traffic movements.
