Privet Dancer

I went up the hill this afternoon to see if there was any sign of Wall butterflies. where I'd spotted them last year. There were a great many butterflies of all kinds but no Walls. On a flowering privet on some waste ground, there were quite a few of these gorgeous Painted Ladies, as well as Small Tortoiseshell, Red Admiral, Peacock and Comma. Further down the lane there were also quite a few Small Skippers. I've put a few more butterflies in extras today.
This time last year, I set myself the challenge of photographing a different butterfly or moth every day of the Bug Butterfly Count. I thought of doing the same this year, but i realised too late. I thing it might have been difficult anyway, given this year's variable and extreme weather!
