Standedge Tunnel.
A new adventure today! A lovely walk along the canal from Slaithwaite to The Standedge Tunnel in Marsden, and back again. Although it was a case of retracing the route along the canal, the views were very different in each direction.
You can take a short trip into the Standedge Tunnel, about half way through before heading back. It's quite the tunnel, exceptionally narrow and dark. It's hard to imagine what it must have been like to begin building it in 1794!!
A great adventure and the sunshine returned. :-)
