Chalkhill blue

The Chalkhill blue  Polyommatus coridon, is one of the larger members of the blue family. The male (seen here) is a beautiful pale blue in colour and looks almost white in flight. It is found on calcareous grassland and can be seen in good numbers at various sites on the South Downs in late July and August.
