Horizon
So, 2013 lies before us like a giant roll of carpet waiting to be unfurled.
After a lazy morning drinking coffee, eating biscuits and watching 'The Way', like many of you I'm sure I headed out for a new year stroll after lunch, wanting to think about my return to work tomorrow and all the things I really want to do over the coming 365 days. It was a grey, silent and crisp hour. I passed by a cluster of chain stores and they were deserted beneath the churning clouds. Empty, shuttered, and poised for the return of the pilgrim shoppers, the retail true believers. Well, alright, Morrisons and Homebase were! PC World was actually open for business as usual, and like the 11 year boy I once was, never quite able to resist the lure of shiny electronic gadgets, I wandered in for ten minutes, mouth slightly agape, to pay homage.
Not that long afterwards, as I made my way down a wooded pathway on the edge of town, I noticed the sun hovering precipitously over the horizon. It was only ten to three!
Tune for today? It was going to be this, screamingly obvious but a tune I still love. But actually, this song captures my thoughts today much more accurately...
...Once I post this I will no longer sport one of those funky little red balloons - oh well! Fun while they last :)
