Frozen
It was a seriously COLD NIGHT.
We woke up this morning to a white house and a frozen bird bath.
And then we went to Jhb theatre, to see...................FIRE and ICE.
Billed as a contemporary ballet, set in a ghetto and a world premiere, by a guy called Redha - powerful, wildly imaginative and poignantly beautiful.
I had been able to get cheap tickets, originally for the Tuesday performance, but this had been cancelled, and so we found ourselves, going to the "ballet", on Wednesday.
I put ballet in inverted commas.
Not so much.
It was certainly powerful and imaginative......... it was really dramatic, and centered around a grandstand. People popped up and down, along it, in the shadows, twisting and contorting their bodies, in amazing shapes. And the people were clearly VERY ANGRY !
The trouble was........ it went on for way too long.
There was no real story line, or if there was, I wasn't smart enough to figure it out, so after the initial, wow factor - the popping up and down, in the shadows, actually became "boring".
It was an interesting day out, but not one I would repeat in a hurry.
