Ripponden

Ripponden is a village near Halifax, on the road to the M62.  Consequently people drive through but don't stop to look around.  Amongst other interesting buildings, it has a rather grand church - St. Bartholomew's.
Unfortunately today the door was locked but a walk around the graveyard proved to be most interesting.  In particular I came across this gravestone (see extra), the bottom section was engraved as follows:
Here also was interred the Body of Martha, Wife of the aforesaid Joseph Crawshaw, who departed this Life the 17th Day of March 1804 in the 84th Year of her Age.
She was Mother, Grandmother and great Grandmother to 194 Persons.
Wow - 194 persons - now that was something to be proud of!  
I wonder if she remembered all their birthdays..... :-)
