Another battleground?

I was taking photos today to illustrate various parts of the Neighbourhood Plan and decided to include one of the First School – the former First School.  It has been closed, for various reasons (valid or not) and now the village is trying to ensure that the green space of the playing fields remains so.

We worry that the attraction of income from a development will override the County Council's duty to a certain quality of amenity for the residents, particularly galling when you consider that the estate belonged to the Parish Council not many years ago.

Towards the top of the photo is a derelict industrial estate which is due to be developed in favour of residential buildings with some light industry. On Thursday this week it was the site of an invasion of travellers, who apparently broke in and started a fire, presumably for cooking.  They were evicted yesterday, I believe.
