White Lady rock painting
Day 13: Namibia
Today we had a two hour walk to see 4000 year old rock paintings. Apparently, there are 1000s rock paintings in this area but, at the moment, only one set of paintings is open to the public, and only with a guide. The blip shows the White Lady, which is the most well known painting, but the guide said that the local people insist that the lady is actually a man!
We hoped to see Desert Elephants during the walk, as they are often seen in this area, but it wasn’t to be. However, we did see elephant footprints within 10 mètres of where we were camping (at which point we were no longer keen to see an elephant!).
The moon did not appear this evening so we had the most incredible view of the Milky Way, probably the clearest I have ever seen it.
Fingers crossed for elephants tomorrow.
Thanks so much for the stars and hearts on Day 10 Dead Vlei ( it made the popular page which is a new experience for me. I’m delighted!
