Turns out that you get reflections in shop windows in America as well as in Scotland - who'da thunk it?

Some time off-campus so to speak with a trip out to a Retail Outlets place, where my purchase of a vivid blue Adidas trackie top on summat of a whim prompted my youngest (always sharp, always to the point, never shy with an opinion) to ask me whether I was having a mid-life crisis. I attempted to explain the retro sartorial elegance of the Adidas Originals range for someone of my generation but my musings fell on mostly deaf ears. Worst case scenario I've wasted twenty quid, but if I merely succeed in embarrassing her whilst wearing it, that's actually twenty quid well spent, yeah (?)

Cici's $5 pizza/pasta/salad/desert buffet for lunch and then a trip to the institution of Dollar Tree for sweets and snacks and stuff to take home. And I am more than well aware that this is the equivalent of someone from the US coming here and going shopping in Poundland on their holidays but, I dunno, this seemed like more of A Good Thing To Do. Plus I got some new shades for, you've guessed it, one dollar (and they, like the trackie top, are more than necessary ammunition to embarrass my children), so everyone's a winner, right?

Bus to Magic Kingdom for the evening. Ice creams and fireworks and rides and the further spending of the girls' holiday money from grandparents. Finished off the evening back at ours with a midnight walk around the lake and a wander down to the river to hear all the bullfrogs shouting away. Plus one of the Jai Alai IPAs from Tampa's Cigar City Brewing Co. that I'd bought earlier in the day from Walgreen's - again I am more aware that this is the same as US tourists getting excited at looking round ASDA or similar, but what the heck - it's Florida, it's hot as owt, it just *seems* so much more exotic! That Jai Alai IPA comes in at 7.5% by the way, you really only do need one to finish the night off.
