Gainford Academy

Another early start - up at 5 and left home at 6, to be at mother in law’s in Darlington for 7 a.m. We needed to be there to stack up a load of large items at the roadside for collection by the council. Also had a couple of charities coming to collect furniture and medical equipment.

Spent the morning cancelling milk, gardener and window cleaner as well as redirecting mail, changing address for power company and sorting council tax etc. etc.

I took MIL for a hair appointment in the village and popped around the corner to photograph this building. Formerly it was Gainford Academy, the most notable pupil of which was Stan Laurel (of Laurel and Hardy fame) although the school had actually moved to another location in the village when he attended. Only chance for a blip shot today

Daughter and granddaughters came up to visit for the last time before grandma moves. Had a ‘picnic’ lunch on the dining room floor (the dining furniture has long gone) which the grandchildren enjoyed.
