honey mango
"No apple, raspberry or pear, no blackcurrant warm from the sun or blackberry bubbling from the oven can come close to the erotic pleasure of a sun-ripened mango."
Walking up past Tooting Market, you would be in no doubt whatsoever that honey mango season has arrived. Outside the shops and on street corners, red, yellow and orange boxes are being unloaded from white vans and piled high on the pavement. They aren't cheap (see 1st extra) but they are delicious. You can read what my favourite celebrity chef thinks about them.
We were visiting Aron and Roy at Bhavins, stocking up on spices and all kinds of other exciting ingredients. Aron's wife had just cooked chilli pakora (2nd extra) and we had a whole one each to try. A whole large green stuffed chilli surrounded by mashed potato and then dipped in a mix of gram flour and water before being fried. Totally delicious.
After that we went to have a drink at Get Juiced in Tooting Market. Sarah was out for a swim lesson at the Lido at 7am so now its time for a wee rest :-)
