Tony’s Gladioli

A morning sort of faffing while waiting for the fence panels to be delivered. You know the sort of thing, a little bit of this and a little bit of that with a sense that time is passing and you’re not getting on with what you wanted to do.

We were productive, booked tickets to see Kate Rusby at the Royal Festival Hall for her Christmas concert and Transatlantic Sessions at the Brighton Dome. Kinda decided what we want to see at the Edinburgh Fringe, collected a star screwdriver and ordered and collected a tarpaulin. Narrows down a choice of cottages for strip to the Lakes in September.

After lunch I replaced the garden gate. Hanging a gate is not something I’ve done before but it all worked out well in the end with a bit of bodging: one of the posts was out of true and necessitated a bit of trial and error adjustment. Now we have a garden gate that shuts properly!

We’ve got the paint for the fence panels: charcoal, we’ve to talk to the neighbours to see if the want their side painted colour as our side. The panels were not cheap and we’d like to have their side painted too. They didn’t paint the current panels so unless we do it, it won’t get done.

I was at a loss for a blip until we went to the allotment to do a bit of watering and collect the prolific courgettes. Aren’t Tony’s gladioli spectacular?
