Common Grackles

These days we have biblical - or perhaps Hitchcockian - numbers of grackles at our house daily. Basically - although there is the very occasional visit from the odd blue jay, and gangs of mourning doves that come around a few times a day and seem to be able to hold their own with the grackles - they're the only birds I seem to be feeding this summer. I know I could stop feeding them at all, but... Anyhoo - here are a few of them squabbling over the water in the birdbath. It's very hot. Everyone needs a drink!

The extra shows a few more of them helping themselves to the free food.
