Clown Doctor

The 'clown doctors' came round today, they were actually quite amusing. They made Rafi a balloon guitar which the 'doctor' could actually get a tune out of it!
The whole immediate family ( and Josh ) has made it to the hospital today which was good.
Rafi had another go on the tilt table and was awake the whole time .
Rafi's muscles have been very stiff for the last few days so I don't think he has slept too well. This morning for some reason he went into a lovely settled deep sleep and slept until 2.00 pm. He has had his muscle relaxant medication increased a little so I'm hoping he'll feel more comfortable by tomorrow.
Kiera is staying with me at the hospital tonight and we will wait on the ward to see the new year in with Rafi who is fast asleep at the moment!
I am determined that 2013 is going to be a positive and exciting year for our family as Rafi makes progress and will at some point return home.

Achievement of the day
Rafi has great difficulty controlling the muscles of his eyes. The speech therapist has asked me to get him to focus on my face, say his name and then move and see if he is able to follow my face (tracking) It seems such a simple thing to do which we all take for granted . Today when Rafi had a wakeful period I tried this with him and he made a really good effort to move his eyes, I am really pleased . If he is able master this skill he will be able develop a better method of communication by being able direct his gaze and make choices.
